SOAKING UP THE ARTS WITH TIM BURTON..

It’s plain old nasty out this weekend in NYC. Cold, rainy and windy! By far the worst menage a trois when it comes to weather..ever! However, if your like me staying indoors is a mild form of torture , think solitary confinement minus the cell bars. After a few hours I start to develop a severs case of crib-fever and need to get out..fast!
A great way to get out while still staying “in” and keeping yourself safe from the severe thunderstorms and wild winds is to spend your weekend soaking up the arts.
One of my favorite artists/directors of all time, TIM BURTON has taken over the cinema and the MOMA..two great places to go to stay dry & cozy while enjoying fun art installations and catching a fabulous flick. Tim’s latest movie masterpiece Alice in Wonderland came out last week to mixed reviews. I personally loved it. I thought the costumes were stunning, the characters quirky and the movie as a whole was whimsical and wonderful.
The Tim Burton Exhibit at the MOMA was equally stimulating and I found it so interesting to see such strong influences in Tim’s earlier sketches of his odd characters found in his character’s in the Alice in Wonderland movie.
Although the weather outside is frightful..Tim Burton’s work is so delightful , so put on your rainboots, grab your kids and start SOAKING up the arts!
Happy Art-Hopping!

Esther
